Received the most prestigious European research prize, an Advanced Grant, from the European Research Council, see press release on the website of the University of Zurich:
"Three leading researchers at the University of Zurich have been awarded the European Union’s top research award, the “Advanced Grant” of the European Research Council (ERC). The EU will support University of Zurich research projects with a total of approximately 7.9 million Euro.
Two male academics and one female academic from the University of Zurich have been selected to receive the EU’s most prestigious research grant. Each will receive between 2.5 and 2.9 million Euro to support innovative research projects over the next five years. The award-winning projects are in the fields of brain research, neuropathology and film studies.
The ERC’s generously supported “Advanced Grant” is awarded to leading European researchers who have shown outstanding achievement in their field over the last ten years and who should be afforded the freedom they need to pursue their research through attractive new projects. The EU GrantsAccess advice center, a joint project of the University of Zurich and the ETH Zürich, supports researchers in submitting and managing EU projects. "

Launch of the new Timeline of Historical Film Colors on Monday, May 27 2013, designed by the Berlin graphics design company basics09. The new concept allows researchers, archivists, film historians, and film restorers to insert texts, images, links, or downloads directly, so that the database will grow steadily. Half of the web development was covered by the crowd-funding campaign. Barbara Flueckiger doubled this amount with her private means. Very recently, the University of Zurich and Swiss National Science Foundation have supported the data management with a significant contribution.

Chairwoman of the Workshop "Sound Design" with Sound Designer Mark Mangini, Weddington Studios Hollywood: Filmmusik Biennale in Bonn Germany June 29, 2002.
"Mark Mangini is one of the most renowned sound designers in Hollywood today. As Supervising Sound Editor he is responsible for the sound concepts at Disney ("Beauty and the Beast", "Aladdin", "The Lion King"), for Steven Soderbergh ("Kafka"), Steven Spielberg ("Raiders of the Lost Ark"), Luc Besson ("The Fifth Element") and for other eminent film-makers. The workshop will be taking a critical look at the work of this US sound designer. Its aim is to use concrete examples to show how the complex soundtrack of an American mainstream film is created as well as the means the designer uses to address the viewers' emotions, the tonal treatment to which he submits sound elements and how he matches up the latter either by mixing or using montage techniques. The workshop will be presented by Barbara Flueckiger,Switzerland, author of "Sound Design - Die virtuelle Klangwelt des Films".
